Role Play Actor For NHS Medical Simulation Course
I work with the GAPS team at the Advanced Patient Simulation And Skills Centre at St George’s University Hospital to support the Continued Professional Development of NHS Medical Professionals. I Role Play patients presenting with a variety of severe physical symptoms in conjunction with complex emotional needs.
Hi, I’m Virginia Thorn, an actor living & working in London & East Sussex.
I am a Meisner Trained Actor & Classically Trained singer with a portfolio in Theatre, Music, Sound Editing & Voice Over. I received an Emmy Award for outstanding editing on the HBO David Simon Show Generation Kill. In 2023 I co-founded Pocket Of Light Theatre Company with directors Sebastien Blanc & Caroline Farrington. Our first production, Savage In Limbo, by John Patrick Shanley, will be staged in October 2024.
Working as a Role Play Actor is a challenge I love as it draws on my Meisner Actors Training & my experience as a Creative Arts Psychotherapist MA. Meisner supports me to behave believably within simulated interactions & adapt relationally, according to the character brief & learning objectives, while the psychotherapeutic lens allows me to deconstruct what takes place. I can offer constructive feedback on approach, body-language and tone of voice & I enjoy contributing to these valuable learning environments.
I compose and record original music on vocals and guitar. When I perform I sometimes bring a friend along on French Horn or Keys. I combine my training as a singer with my knowledge of audio production to record and produce voice over from my home studio.
I am passionate about creating original work and am a member of Directors Cut Theatre Company, which is a fantastic springboard for new projects. I love to meet others who want to make work that is inspiring, challenging and meaningful.
